DIY Valentines Wreath
This Valentine wreath is an easy DIY project that adds a fun, clever decoration to your door or home perfect for Valentine’s Day.
Make this DIY Valentine wreath with a piece of foamboard or cardboard and a couple of decks of cards! You may even have all the supplies you need to make this Valentines wreath already at your house. Best of all, it should take less than 15 minutes to make!
If you’ve read any of my other posts, you probably know that I love crafting, creating, and decorating, but without spending a lot of money. This valentine wreath could be the perfect use for any decks of cards that are missing cards, or you can buy cards for as little as $1.25 at the Dollar Store.
Supplies to Make DIY Valentine Wreath
- piece of foamboard or sturdy cardboard
- 2 decks of playing cards
- hot glue
- red ribbon
- red twine (if you want to make small hearts to hang in the middle)
How to make the Valentines wreath form
To make the heart form, fold a large piece of paper in half and cut out your heart. Then, cut about and inch and a half on the inside of the heart to make a heart that is open in the middle. My wreath form ended up being about 18″ at the widest part across the middle of the heart, but you could make it any size you like. Just be sure the width of the ring is about 1.5″ so the cards can easily cover it up.
Use that paper heart as your template to trace on a piece of foam board. You could also use a sturdy piece of cardboard for this as well. Cut out the foam board with an exacto knife or a sharp pair of scissors.
Assemble the Valentines Day Wreath
Use two decks of cards and remove all the heart cards. Arrange them on the wreath form so none of it is showing and so that the cards can span across the entire Valentine wreath. Once you have a design you like, glue them to the foamboard with hot glue.
Hot glue a piece of ribbon on the back of the wreath for easy hanging. To make the tiny yarn wrapped hearts, wrap some red and white twine around little cardboard hearts. (You can see a full tutorial with a video on how to make those yarn wrapped hearts here.)
This DIY Valentine wreath couldn’t get any easier and it can definitely be a Valentine’s craft for kids as well. Instead of hot glue, I would use glue dots to attach the cards to the wreath! You can also easily change up the size of the wreath as well.
I told you it would be super easy and super cheap!

So cute! I really like that you made the heart base yourself. Usually I see projects with wreath bases that I can’d find where I live!
