Decorating on a Budget

I love decorating and remodeling our home without spending a lot of money.  It has become a sort of a challenge for me to create a functional, yet beautiful home, on a major budget.

Our home is a three bedroom, two bath house that was first built in the 1930s, but let me tell you, it’s nowhere in the state it started 80 years ago.  If you take a look at our home, it doesn’t look like a bungalow or craftsman style home (I wish) you’d except to see.

Instead, it’s been renovated (slowly, but surely) about 5 times (the 40s, 80s, 90s, and now today).  In fact, it started as a three-room home (kitchen, bedroom, and bath) built on top of an old railroad boxcar as a foundation.  Fun story, but not so fun when it comes to remodeling the kitchen that sits on top of it!

Bedrooms, living rooms, bathrooms, fireplaces, lofts, and lots and lots of paint have been added to this home to make it as it is today.   Much of that structural work was done by my dad (he’s pretty amazing), but now I’ve taken over and added a lot more paint, woodwork, floors, remodeled the kitchen and one bathroom, and have plans for quite a few more projects!  Take a look at some of the projects I’ve been working on to make this little house our forever home!

No matter what you choose, I hope you’ll find some inspiration to help decorate your home on a budget, too!
