It’s apple-picking season around here, and for this post in my 31 days of DIY holiday decor, I thought I’d share with you a great upcycled project for storing all those apples.
I love vintage enamelware pieces. I’ve made some serving trays with enamelware plates and candle sticks before, and this project is similar, expect with bowls big enough to hold those apples!
I used a spindle that I picked up at the resale store for a quarter. I know you can also buy these new at the hardware store. I painted the first layer in Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint (Tricycle), added a little vaseline to show that layer of paint (here’s a post all about distressing to show a second layer of paint), and then used MMS Milk Paint in Kitchen Scale for the top layer.
After it all dried, I used sandpaper to lightly distress it, and then E6000 Industrial Strength Adhesive to glue the spindle to the bowls.
I’m collecting some vintage goodies, upcycled creations, and natural elements for my first ever Thanksgiving centerpiece. I’m thinking this will be a part of it, but we’ll all just need to wait and see.
Like what you see? I’d love for you to follow along!
